Your home is your refuge; it’s where you should feel most comfortable. Any design should be prioritizing how you feel and improve your day-to-day life, regardless of any design trends.
That fact doesn’t stop us from looking at design trends for 2026 and seeing what direction people are leaning.
On that note, here are some design trends that are bound to become more prevalent in 2026:
Warm and Soft Textures
The traditional approach to a peaceful, calming aesthetic – minimalism, stark neutral colors, straight lines – can sometimes have the opposite effect, making the space feel empty and sterile. The solution is a more layered, intentional approach that makes the space more conducive to the homeowner’s well-being and tranquility.
Nothing makes a room feel warmer and cozier than the soft textures of organic materials. More and more people are utilizing textured items like wool blankets, jute rugs, and natural wood cabinetry to calm their spaces.
Instead of the traditional white or grey backdrop, homeowners are also opting for earthy tones like a rich Taupe, or creamy beiges like Benjamin Moore’s “Panishma.” This makes sense because organic materials tend to feature neutral colors, so you can choose virtually any earthy backdrop you want, and the two will pair well together.
Color-Drenched Bedrooms
Speaking of colors, you are not along if you are done playing it safe with bedrooms. Time and again we come across folk who have realized that this is a private space where you can truly express yourself. So, not only are more people going bold in bedrooms, they’re going full on monochromatic, or drenching the entire room – walls, ceiling, trim, even textiles and furniture – in their favorite bold color.
This could be everything from a deep blue to a dusty plum to a clay pink. Whatever brings out your best self and puts your mind at ease when you’re going to sleep and waking up.
Wellness Features
A trend we expect to continue – more self-care features are being installed at home. For some, it’s home gyms, for others, it’s a backyard sauna and ice plunge tub. Whatever it is that will make you feel great as you get ready for every day, why fight traffic to get that feeling?
Smart Technology
While there’s nothing wrong with showing off a little, one trend we’re seeing is all about calming down. This trend is predicted to play a huge role in the mass adoption of smart technology, and its discreet ability to create optimal indoor conditions. More homeowners will capitalize on smart lighting that automatically dims into warm tones when you’re getting for bed, or climate control that automatically adjusts indoors temperatures based on factors like the weather, time of day, or the number of people in a room.
