Going Green for Your Home Design: Introducing the Efficient and Environmentally-Friendly Lapitec

Over the course of the past few years, we all have become more aware of the impacts design has had on the environment. And the industry has responded with products that are not only great design but amazing for the environment. And we mean that – Amazing.

At Debowsky Design Group, we’ve always been rooted in the latest updates to green design. From electronics and solar roofs to flooring and plumbing, there have been so many advancements in the industry. But none have surprised us as much as this newest product – Lapitec.

Lapitec: what is it, and what can it do for your home?

Lapitec is made from ceramic materials like porcelain and is forged by a process called “sintering” (a method that involves intense amounts of heat that mimic the earth’s natural forging process of stones such as granite and marble). While most stone products emit pollutants throughout their lifetime, off-gassing harmful substances such as VOCs and formaldehyde, Lapitec not only does NOT emit pollutants but, in fact, helps improve the air quality instead!

With its Bio-Care technology, Lapitec actually breaks down NOx through the use of Titanium Dioxide and its reaction with visible light. Yes, we know – that’s a lot of science, but trust us, it’s all good things. Bottom line is Lapitec can clean the air, as well as break down e-coli and staphylococcus bacteria on the surface. Want more? In six hours, 100 square meters of Lapitec can purify as much air as 28 trees can in one day.

Better Than Stone

Lapitec is anything but ordinary, and it is known as a premier engineered stone surface that is extremely hard and incredibly durable. Harder than quartz, and more durable than porcelain, it is resistant to scratches, stains, and chipping. The high heat process makes Lapitec naturally resistant to heat. It also won’t be disturbed by the cold or UV exposure. Are you impressed yet? Well, if you need a little more convincing, Lapitec is unlike most natural stones because it is not porous. So, what does that mean to you? You don’t have to be consumed with trying to treat it regularly with sealant either.

A Fit for Every Project

Is there anything that sintered stone can’t do? If you’re expecting us to say yes, you will probably be disappointed. Lapitec can fit seamlessly into your lifestyle and fit almost every project you can imagine for your home. The extra-large, but surprisingly thin slabs have been used for countertops, walls, and interior and exterior flooring as well as cladding, paving and more. Also, if you’re a person who needs a little more color in your life, there are various options to complement your home redesign dreams.
